Messrs Matson and Co. report:— | fin the store sheep pens there were only 1675 offered, and prices were again good, though several Jinea of hoggets failed to reach owners' reserve*, beirig withdrawn at 12a 3d and 12s 6d. The best line in the yards was 500 two and four tooth halfbred wethers from Achray, which made 17s lOd. Anothor line of 456 wethers sold at 16s 101, And 80 hoggets made 15a 4d, these being the principal lots that changed bands.

A few of this season's fat lambs sold at 14s to 10a.

There was a fair entry of fat sheep, including some lines of prime heavy weight and freezing wethers, but ewes were somewhat ecarce. There was good competition for all clashes, and prices advanced for both freezers and butchers' sheep. Heavy weight wethers made 2ls 9J to 23a 6d, prime freezers 18s 61 to 21s 6.1, lighter 17s to 18a, best ewes 16s to 19J BJ, others 13s to 15s 6d merino withers 14s to 15s lid. Some of the best lines sold were for JMr W. Macfarlane, Kaiwara, 53 halfbred wethers 2la to 23s 6d, Mr J. W. Irvine, Dunsandel, 41 crossbred and halfbred wethers 22* to 23a, Mr G. G Holmes, Knocklyn, 69 crossbred wethers 21s Id to2la 4d, and 305 at 19s Id, Mr Thoa. Ctapman, Mount Palm, 198 halfbred wethers 20a lOd to 21s 3d, Messrs J. and A. D. Mcllraitb, Barr Hill, 20 crossbred wethers 21s, 88 ewes 18a 6d to 19s Bd, SpriDgbank Estate, 120 merino wetnera 14s 3d to 15a lid.

The Bupply of beef was a short one, only 109 head coming forward, mostly light weights, and prices advanced la per 1001b. A line of six North Island bullocks made £12 to £12 10s; other steers brought £7 2i 61 o £9 10a, heifers £6 17s 6d to £8 7b 6d, and £11 7s 6d, equal to 21s to 26a per 1001b. A fairly large en'ry of store cattle met with a good sale as follows :—Calves 22<, m ; xed yearlings 33s 6d to £2, 3 year heifers, £4 12s 6d, and 3 year steers at £5 7s 6d JTiffeen to eighteen months cattle were fassed at JE2l7a 6d, and 3 year steers at £5 os, and 3 year steers at £5 10s Dry cows sold at 30j to £3 ss, and dairy cows mide from £3 to £9.

There was a very large entry of fat and *tore pigs. The market for fats opened very Black, but w*hen the buyer for Wellington began operating prices came up to last week's level bmh for baconers and porkers. Stores cf all classes met with veiy brisk demand. Baconers made 35j to 59d 6d, equal to 3|d to to 4J per lb ; poikers 20s to 32i 6d, equal to 4i per lb ; large stores 19s to24s6d, smaller 32s to 18s, and suckers and weaners 6s to 10s. A line cf 20 baconeia frcm Mr Blackmores Kaiapti Island, made 68a 6d.

Danger of Colds and La Grippe.—The greatest danger from colds and la grippe is their resulting in pneumonia. Jf reasonable care is used, however, and Chamberlain's Cough Remedy taken, all danger will be avoided. It will cure a cold tr an attack of la grippe in less time than any other treatment.
