PIGEON BAY CONCERT.
The concert and ball given by the Oddfellow*' Lodge in Pigeon Bay took place fact Wednesday, end wie n great eucoeee. The whftrfflhed we* need foi the purpose, end proved a tnoft oommodiope conceit hali, a stage being erected et the end. The room wae crowded nearly all the biiya being represented. Mr J. Pei-tigrew proved a mont efficient chairman, and in en ahle speech explained that on the' "V*- " • Lodge was celebrating its i;«tu aonivereary. Mr Pettigrew also gave a lucii sketch of the Bociety with which al! the colonial branched of the Odd fellows are connected.
The programme wae a varied one, and the i'ems were most enthusiastically received, The pianoforte bolos given by Mertinines Bowley and Smith were much admired. Mrs Jones end Mr* McKay sang t'lfir songs capitally, whilst thp items given by Misses Ptitan, AdcK>y and Pet igrew were received with tuaoh applause. Mr Henderson gave a violin solo very nicely indeed, and tbe. comi.o songs of Messrs Byde and Helbeit w?re all re-dfltnandedi A dnet in by Messrs Hall end Ford prjved very laagbable, anl Mr Bruce's fine voice wne conspicuous in a patriotic ballad. Mr Pi'oeifbly .ffiive « very eiirring. recitation, and ibf danoes tbe one a Hand jip and ihe otber en Irish jig given respectively by Messrs Columbus and John K n lly» were enthueiae'ioftily received. A<ter tho concert dancing was kept up t • nn early hour under the able guidance i.f Mr R. PetJgrewi There were about 60 coap'es present at. the dance. Mu»ia wuf. supplied by Messrs Gilliua and on tbe piano, atiii Meeers Henderson and Ptt.igrew on the violin.
