At Wednesday's meeting of tbe Board of Education, the following address was presented to the Hon. Wm. Montgomery: 'To the Hon. W. Moatcrnuiery, M.L.O :— We, the members of the North Canterbury Board of Education, desire to express our sincere regrst at the lost? which we nil frel we shall individually and coll* ctiyely sustain by your retirement irom a posi ion you have so long, so ab'y, and so usefully | filled from .the earliest date of our provincial and colonial efforts in tho cause ofednoatiott. We have for so many years been accustomed to rely upon your well proved judgment, your nn-varying courtesy, evr friendly advice, and cooperation, that in losing you we feel that wo are parting with a friend,.-a'.guide, who has long commanded our affection |as well as our trust and esteem.
