[from oor own oorrkspondrnt.] Wellington, October 1. The House Banking Committee held its final open sitting this morning, when only a bare quorum was present. The Assets Realisation Board wrote stating that the depreciation of flour-millintr, properties was made provision for out of profits as deemed advisable. It wai decided to apply to the House for further extension ot time for seven days, in which to bring down the report, A sub-committee consisting of Messrs Graham, Secdon and Montgomery was appointed to prepare the draft report, and the Committee adjourned till 11 aim on Tuesday to receive that report. Melbourne, Oct. 1. The Government geologist's report on the Buchan mine shows that an offijer inspected the mine twenty years atio, when it was known as the Back Creek mine. When Morgan described the mine he w?s opening up, tho geologist failed to recognise V\i as tho old Rack Creek mine, and thought it was a now discovery. The report doubts whether ten tons of ore could now be r isfd from the mine, and states that not more than £1000 had been spent on the mino- Therefore those who found the £10,000 which was alleged to have been spent have been grossly deceived. The rpporfc exonerates the officers of the Mining Department of the charge of making misleading reports. Cairo, Sept. 30. Bishara, one of the Arab leaders, narrowly escaped capture by t'lose belonging to one of the gun boats; Prktoria, Septi 30. The syndicate which jumped some four hundred claims in the Hand is not likely to succeed in its efforts to have its rights protected.
