The half-yearly meeting'was held hi the Oddfellows 1 - Hall, Akaroa, yesterday. Present—D. P.G.M, Earl presiding, P.C.ib, ; John L. Carrell, D.W.P.tf. John Staples. Deputies present from— L>yal City of Nowrich, P.G.s Bride and Kny ; Good Intent, P.P.G.M. Bruce, P.S Leete • Tiinaru, P.G. Rooney ; Hand of Friendship, ,P.G. A. E. Harris; Hand and Heart, P.P.G M. Scott ; Heart of Friendship, P.G. L. A. Graham (appointed) ; Pleasant Point, N.G. Taylor (appointed). P.P.G.M. Harris was • elected to fill the'deputy rhair for the meeting-

The P.G.M. unfortunately was absent through removal to Wellington, but forwarded an exhaustive report shoeing proceedings of the District, and recommending the adoption of several items which would be of benefit to the District, and also forwarding his resignation of office as P.G M s and wishing the District and'members every success.

It was resolved That the resignation of the P.-G.M.-be received with regret, nnd-that he be voted a jewel with appropriate inscription for the many services rend red by him.

' That the usual privileges be granted to Peninsula LodgPß-in granting sick certificates on sirk. visitors' certificates ' ' That consequent upon the resignation of the P.G.N. , the vacancy Yβ filled by the election of D P.G. M. Earl as P.G.M 1

For the office of D.P.G.M., Deputies Newton, Brice, LeConite nn<l Graham were , nominated, snd ballot resulted in P.G. J. 11. Newton.

Resolved that Prov. O.S. obtainestitnito of printing , reports of Disr.ct meetings and lay bpfore the annual meeting.

Resolved that the'hearty thanks of the deputies be accorded to the Loyal Good Intent, for the hearty manner in which the deputies were entertained.

J The Ball which followed was a great i success. The Oddfellows' Hall was I very nicely decorated with flias, Ptc#, aid th'r* was a capital supper. Mr f. Anninj* bsin'j the pnrveyor. Theattendr. anco was exceedingly large-=-so larg*e thntit was wuh an effort room whs made in the square dances. The ladies'dresses were excessively bright and pretty. Messrs Grim wood and Tickrell were the tnuicians. and Mr D. Le Comte was as usaal a perfect MiO. Altogether it was one of the largest nnd most animated Assemblages we have seen in Akaroa, and its entire success must he very gratifying to the members or the Order
