The new outbreak in Mashonalaud is spreading rapidly, and (he position is serious owing to the isolation of the homesteads. So far .nine white people have been murdered. The Muzoe settlers have been ordered into a laager at "Fort Salisbury. The Chartered Company's mounted men, also 200 of the Cape mounted men have been o r dered to proceed to Mashonaland via Beira. Beale's and SprecUley's columns have been ordered to Fort Salisbury, and the Imperial troops at Mafeking procped to Macloastee. Dr. Leyds, the Transvaal Secretary of State, has cabled to the British Government to the effect that the welfare and peace of Africa require that Mr Cecil Rhodes' should be brought to justice for the part he has taken in connection with the recent disturbances. He adds that the best proofs are in possession of Mr . Chamberlain, which justify and should compel him to take action. Dr. Leyds olso expresses regret at the delay that is taking place in making enquiry into Iho raid, and further urges that the British South Africa Co. should be deprived of civil control.
