To the Editor.
Sir—The lale addition to the list of 'Justices of the Peace for the Diafict of Akaroa has caused some to shake in their swaddling clothes, that the eent'eman is teacher iv a Nitive school. This gent'eman being well known for his abilities and qualifications, fiat is, I surmise, tbe reason he has been selected ; and 1 ntn of opinion that be will discharge his duties faithfully and well, to the satisfaction of the public. * T. therefore, cannot see why certuin individuals should find fault with this appointment. There ure some who are pleased to say that my friend will be no ornament to the Bench. Well, Sir. putting two and two together, I think the geftleman will be found to be the right man in tho right place. I understand that the discontented few are thinking of ca''l ; ng a public meeting to protest against the appointment be not being one of them. I will ask no questions, as I expect tbe same honour conferred upon myself in the near future. Thanking you for space.—Yours, etc., ONE OF THE RIGHT COLOR. Little River. June 11, 1896
