DAIRY FACTORY.

A meeting was held in the public hall on Saturday afternoon last. The attendance was small, owing no doubt to the wretched state of the weather. Mr J. B. Barker, Chairman of Directors, occupied the chair. The Chairman said the meeting was called for tho purpose of seeing if the farmers really wanted the factory or not. for the time was fast going by, and they would have to be in earnest if they wished to see the factory working this season. Mr G-. Crolty thought if the prospectus was drawn up and taken round to the farmers they could see at a glance for themselves.

Mr T. H. Oldridge said he would like to ask as regards the Bhares, could the milk suppliers take up shures or not ? The Chairman said he thought thnt the milk suppliers should be allowed to take up shares as well. He was certainly of the opinion that to make it local would be a great advantage. Mr T. Oldridge thought 10s a cow would be sufficient, that was to say. if a farmer had 20 cows he should take 10 shareß.

After some further discussion Mr T. Oldridge proposed, and Mr Geo. Hall seconded—" That the Chairman draw up a prospectus, and that the same be submitted to the Directors at a special meet* ing on Monday afternoon." This being all the business, a vote of thanks to the chair closed the meeting. On Monday afternoon the Directors met when the Chairman submitted the prospectus which was approved of, and after transacting some minor business the mcc*-< ing adjourned.
