The importers o£ fruit report that the. season has been unprofitable. They complnin of inferior picking, and assert that another similar season will destroy the market for colonial fruit. They ate in favour of higher qualities of apples being sent, but do not beiieve in peaches. Sydney apples were the best received. Canterbury frozen mutton, per lb i Wellington, 3|i ; Canterbury lamb, 6ffl ; Wellington lamb, 6\d, The Duke of Sutherland's cheese arrived baited, and her mutton was in poor condition.
