Messrs J. B, Rutland and Co., auctio neers, &c, Timaru, had a crowded attendance in their largo rooms on Satu'day 14th, at their rcgulir weekly sale by auction, a very satisfactory diy's business resulting, At 12 o'clock sharp they sold tho privileges in connection with the Bicycle Club's sports. A raid was then made upon the poultry pens, which were soon cleared, hens nt 2s to 2i CI, roosters at 2-i 6d to 3s, ducklings nt 2s to 2s G I, ducks at 2s 9d to 3s, geese at 2s 3d to 2s Gd each, turkey hens at 3s 3d to 3s 61 each, gobblers at 7s 61 each for medium. Pigs—Owing to the wet humane owners kept this line at homo, Potatoes 60* to 80s por ton, fowl wheat 5s to 10s per sack, onions £9 butter 7d to 81 per lb. eggs 91 to per dozen, apples ;]d to l|d per lb. Plums—These mu4 have been carried on the deck of the B lautiful Star, for most ot the cases reached tho rooms exuding plum juice, making a great mess of the place; ld to l£d was the best piice procurable for reds, egg do 2d per lb, poaches 2Ad do, cheese 3Ad and 4d do.
