THE ATHLETIC SPORTS.

A meeting of the Little River Sports Committee was held at the cricket pavillion on Saturday evening. The members present were Messrs H. White (chairman). J. Aicher. W. Reynolds, J. Ryan, A. Williams, Jas. and John Coop, S. Nutt and the Secretary. A letter waa read from the Traffic Manager N.Z. railways intimating that a special train would run to Little River on the 30ih of Docember, the day of the sports. Tenders were received from the various bands re performing at the sports, and that of tbe Burnham brassband was accepted. It was resolved that a vote of thanks be accorded to the Traffic Manager for his kindness in granting a special train. That in tbe event of Mr S. P. Andrews declining to act as handicnpper that Mr Cuff he requested to act in that capacity. That the sports be further advertised in the Times and Press. That tenders be invited for the right of publicans' and confectioners' booths ; and that members' tickets be authorised to admit a lady and gentlemen to the ground on sports day, and also that all children under the age of twejve years be admitted free. A vote of thanks to the chairman closed the proceedings.
