SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The ordinary monthly meeting of tb<3 Little Akaloa School Commit ten was held on Saturday evening', Ihe 6 h inst, when 'hi folio vine members wore present • — Messrs Henderson. Piiost, Hix, Bennetts, nnd Mcintosh. In tht* absence ot ihe Oh'iirinan, Mr F. 11. Priest was voted to th" chair.
The following letters wore received :—
From (ho Board of Education re the cost of fencing off master's house from tho school giound, and stating that Mr 0. R Hamilton lnd been appointed master of tho Miin school.
R-'solvod that the Secretary be instructed to write to the Board, giving the information asked for. and impressing tbe advisability of eroding a verandah to the master's residence.
From Mr Hamilton, new master, stating fie would be prepared to open school in tbe courss of a week.
From the Canterbury Typographical Association, asking Committee to withdraw their support from Whitcombe and Tombs.
Members decided not to discuss the question uuder the circumstances.
Messrs Henderson and Rix were appointed truant officers for the district, and after some other routine business the meeting adjournod.
