CURIOUS DIALOGUE.

(7b Editor of Auckland Examiner.)

Sir, —Passing along Shortland Street the other day I heard the following dialogue between two zealous, but not over-educated, members of St. Paul’s Church. There seemed to be something so naive and so true in the observations that I thought it a. pity they should be lost to the Auckland public :—

“ I say, Bill, what be the meanin’ of a Synod ?” “A Synod—why tis a meetin' the parsons has wunst a year to swop sermons all round.” “Oh, that’s what tis for, is it. Well, dang it, Bill, I'm blow’d if our cove dos'nt come off worst every time.’’

I remain, dear Mr. Editor, Truly yours, A Missionary's Daug.hter Eve of St. Alban, Martyr.
