Lucky Farmer Mr F. Redman, a farmer of Ashburton, received advice yesterday morning that he had won £IO,OOO in an overseas lottery. Angling Club An advertisement in this issue requests members of the Alexandra Angling Club to attend a meeting to be. held in the Band Room next Saturday night. ■ *hj

Waterfront Strike ; \ More than 30,000 tons of shipping was involved at Lyttleton yesterday when the waterfront dispute which has paralysed shipping, entered its fifth day. Practically no work was done in the Port.

Presbyterian Church Services will be held next Sunday as follows: St. Enoch's, Alexandra, 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.; St. Mungo's, Clyde, 3 p.m. The Harvest Festival will be held at the morning service.

Sister Elizabeth Campbell , Sister Elizabeth Campbell, the Presbyterian Deaconess and Youth Worker, who is spending some time in Central Otago, last week conducted a Children's Mission in Clyde, and this week is conducting a similar Mission for the children of Alexandra. About 50 children are attending the Mission, which is held after school each afternoon. Last night Sister Campbell addressed a meeting of parents and children in the Earnscleugh Hall and showed them a series of films- On Saturday Sister Campbell will go to Omakau, returning to Alexandra later for the Bible Class Easter Camp.

Presbyterian Memorial Orga/n ' At a meeting of the St. Enoch's Board of Managers, it was reported that over £BOO was already in hand, and a further £3OO promised, for the Memorial Organ Fund. To meet the cost above that sum it was decided to hold a monster Fair in the Town Hall on May 3rd, with produce, cake and sweet stalls, ei,c, afternoon tea and supper to be on sale.

Choral Society After the Victory Concert last year the desire was expressed to form a Choral Society in the town. It was left with Mr W. Bringans and the Rev G. Dallard to call a meeting in the new year. Elsewhere in this issue a meeting is advertised of. all those interested in the formation of such a Choral Society,, for next Monday at 7.30 p.m. It is expected that there will be a large attendance of the singers of the town and district, and it is hoped that a choir of fifty voices may again be organised. St. Aidan's Church The service at St. Aidan's on Sunday next will be held at 7 p.m. Evensong.
