WOMENS INSTITUTE

The Annual meeting of the Alexandra Women's Institute was held on March 7th in the Anglican Hall Miss Jesson presided over a large attendance. Mrs Skene was elected President; Senior-vice President, Mrs Anderson; Junior Vice-president Mrs McLennan; Secretary,. Mrs Mc Phail; Treasurer, Mrs Rogerrs; Committee, Mesdames Bruce, Carruthers, Cheyne, Fogo, Jesson, King, Rogers, Nicolson and Saunders. Points competition for the year resulted: Mrs G. K. Nicolson Ist, Mrs Brown 2nd, Mrs McPhail 3rd. The sum of £57/12/3 was donated during the year to the following funds: — Leper, Dr Barnardo's, Sick and Wounded, Roxburgh Health Camp, Polish Children, Plunket Building Fund. After a pleasant Social half hour the meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
