Tennis The following team has been selected to represent Vincent in the match against Dunedin at Clyde on Saturday:— Goodall, Munro (Cromwell), Griffiths (Tarras), McKissock, Fogo (Alexandra); Miss Keddell (Clyde), Miss Jenkins (Tarras), Mrs Sutton Arnott (Alexandra), Miss Campbell (Cromwell). Bowling An Alexandra rink (D. Blyth, C. Robertson, W- King and T. E. Sunplay a challenge match with Cromwell for the Memorial to-night. A Good Save Mr Barrett and several willing helpers have done splendid work for local anglers, having saved no less than ten thousand trout from the Fraser River in the lower portion which is practically dried up Poll On Rating System At the forthcoming Poll on Friday, Bth March, on the proposal to change the rating system from the. Annual Value to the Unimproved Value system only those with Ratepayers' and Freeholders' qualifications will be entitled to vote. A Freeholder is the registered owner of land of a greater value than £25. A Ratepayer is a person whose nanie appears in the ratebook as the occupier of property. In the case of husband and wife any qualification possessed by either of them is deemed to be possessed by each of them. This means that where the husband has a right, to vote the wife also has such right and vice versa.

It describes the primitive methods first tried out by our resourceful pioneers and mentions the spoon-dredge. In this connection it is interesting to know that the first spoon dredge on the Molyneux was recovered from the bed of the stream by one of the later steam dredges, and was sent by the writer to the Early Settlers Hall. Dunedin, where it may still be seen.
