MEETING OF COMMITTEE The monthly meeting of the 'above was held at Dunedin on Tuesday, July 27th, there being present Messrs E. Macdonald (chair), T. Golden, W- Bryant, "W- C. Davis, J- Smith, S. A., Stevens, W. Sutherland and Dr T. McKibbin. The medical superintendent, Dr A.Kidd, reported that during June 31 patients had been admitted, 23 were discharged, and 135 were in the institution at the end of the month. He recommjendcd as suitable for admission four patients from Southland and one from VincentThe Director-General of Health, Dr Watt, advised that the committee's estimates for 1943/44 which provided for a capital levy of £6500 on the associated hospital boards had been approved by the Minister of HealthThe secretary reported that on July .20 the associated boards had patients in the institution as follows:—Southland 64, South Canterbury 28, Ashburton 14, Waitaki 10, South Otago 10, Vincent 4, Maniototo 2—a total of 132. Since the previous meeting 12 patients from three hospital districts had been discharged, and there was a •waiting list of 19 patients from 4 districts, five of whom had been notified that beds were availableThe treasurer submitted statements of the committee's receipts and payments showing that on June 30 there was a credit balance of £13,009/12/2 which included an amount of £IO,OOO invested on fixed deposit for capital works not yet commenced. Statements of receipts and payments for the three months ended June 30 compared with the amounts estimated for the period were also submitted, the actual maintenance receipts being £27/14/6 more than the estimate, and the actual maintenance paymets £4BB/17/10 less than the estimate.
