Mr and Mrs W. Nicolson (Poolburn) passed through Alexandra on the return trip of a southern holiday tour. . Mr George Spencer, of the Bank of New Zealand, Dunedin, spent the Easter holidays with his mother at "The Pines," Alexandra. Mr and Mrs T* E. Sunderland left on Wednesday for a week in Dunedin.
Mr G. L. Dennistoh and Miss Denniston arc spending their Easter holidays with Mr and Mrs Hunter Denniston, of Earnscleugh. Mr Kemp and family have gone to Palmerston for the holidays. Mrs John Hawley who has been an inmate of the Dunstan Hospital for the past two -months was discharged on Saturday. We are pleased to learn that she is progressing favourably. Mr James Russell, of Lawrence, was in Alexandra over Easter visiting his son Mr E. Russell.
Mr Lyall Anderson of the Telephone Exchange staff has received notice of his transfer to Middlemarch and regret is expressed at his departure. He has proved himself a very obliging and capable offieer. Mr Anderson has taken a keen interest in all branches of sport; he was secretary of the Alexandra Football Club last year. After the match on Saturday Mr W. Carline, jun, (President of the Club) made a presentation of a fountain pen and expressed good wishes, of the local footballers. Messrs A. Marslin and R. Campbell also spoke in glowing terms of last year's secretary and wished him a bright future. , The recipient suitably responded. Mr Anderson received an injury to his j shoulder last Saturday and the doctor has given him a fortnight's rest. Mr F. Calley, of Invercargill, replaces Mr Anderson on the Exchange. ■ ' j
Mr S. Bringans was home for Easter. The M' Arthur—Taylor wedding took place at Clyde yesterday. In the Band Boom last Wednesday Mr Geof. Taylor was the guest of .honour at a function tendered by the member's of the Mounted-Rifles. During the evening Mr C. B. Bobertson, on behalf of the troop, presented Mr Taylor with four volumes of the official history of New Zealanders in the Great War and wished him every happiness in his married life. Among the local teachers and Training College students home for Easter were Messrs Bivers and Terry and Miss W. Arnott. .:/.'.
Mr Eric Booth renewed old acquaint anccs over the week-end.
Amongst the visitors during the holidays was Nurse Graham whose services were very much valued when she was engaged in Plunket work here some years ago. ■ Mr and' Mrs J. 11. Timmings, senr., are in Dunedin attending tho celebrations of the George Street School. We hope they will have a meeting and comparing notes with old fellow pupils who like themselves have borne the stress and strain of the intervening years bravely.
