Maniototo Sub-Union. : A general meeting of the above ' union was held in Donald's Rooms, Ranfurly on June 11. Mr J. I. Phaser was in the chair and there were present: Messrs G. P. Howell, T. Mitchell, W. Howell, B. Doogue and A. Aitchison. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. It was resolved that P. Christie be advised that the remission of his sentence was refused. A list of the Becks second grade players was approved. Mr M'Naught's resignation as a selector on the second committee was accepted. Mr T. Howell's name was substituted. W. Wright's application for rcgradc ■ was refused. i D. Small's transfer was granted and j J. Friend's application for regrade i was refused. 1 Transfers were granted to Messrs , M'Cutcheon and Lewis. i The secretary was instructed to , write to the Vincent Sub-union sug- , gesting that the first and second grade , matches be playe'd on July 27 and also , that the secretary advise the 0.8. F.U. , that this union falls in with the country j week football programme. ■. After a series of scrums and lineouts the Blacks were penalised in front of tkei/ goal and Inder put the ball between the bars. —Eanfurly 9-nil. From the kick off the Eanfurly forwards, headed by Bedding, F. Pringle and Doughorty, broke away but W. Becker cleared. A free kick gave Ran-fu-ly a chance but the attempt at goal failed and Ida Valley forced down. C. ffarrex was prominent in a forward rush but the Eanfurly backs cleared and essayed a passing rush but a forward pass spoiled the movement. Play was held up temporarily owing to C. M'Knight receiving an injury. From a scrum in the Blacks' twenty-five M'Bride sent out to Inder wlio eut in to score his second try and Miller converted with a good kick.—Alexandra 14, Ida Valley nil. Hewitt and Bedding broke away but C. M'Knight relieved. From a loose rush F. Pringle and Dougherty dribbled to the Blacks' line and J. Cromb got over at the corner; the kick at goal failed.—Eanfurly 17-nil. Ida Valley forwards pressed but M'Bride passed to Millar who put in a good line kick. - M'Donald stopped a likely Black movement and then a Eanfurly passing rush was spoiled when Dowling failed to take a difficult pass. Just on halftime Woods just missed scoring, L. Dillon forcing in time. On resuming play Blacks rushed play

to the Blues' territory but Inder returned play to halfway. D. Beeker showed up in a good solo run but was well tackled by Woods. M'Donald then secured for Ida Valley but was well collared. From a scrum the Ida Valley backs handled well until a knock-on spoiled the movement. The Pringle brothers started a dribbling rush but ■ M'Donald saved. After some uninteresting play, W. Pringle dribbled to .iie ij.'acks' line and F. Pringle scoivd. Miller failed with the kick. —Ba:ifuijy 20, Ida Valley nil. The next few minutes' play w: s characterised by lineouts and serums. The Ida Valley backs combined in a passing bout but good tackling kept, them out. The Black forwards then attacked but M'Donald found the line with a good kick. A likely-looking opportunity was lost when D. Becker, after a nice run, passed to W. Becker who did not pass to.M'Knight in time. The Blacks continued to press but Millar came through with a dribble and relieved. M*Donald was injured and had to go off. In the dying stages of the game Williamson took a good mark.and dropped a goal.—Eanfurly 20 Ida Valley 3. , The Blues were attacking when the final whistle went with the score: Eanfurly .. , 20 Ida Valley 3 Mr W. The Loyal Maniototo Lodge in eonjunction with the Loyal Queen of ' Maniototo Lodge held a most enjoyable and successful ball on Thursday, June 20. The hall was beautifully decorated and a credit to the workers. ' Some 40 couples enjoyed an excellent
