Uamble, of Dunedin, was in Alexandra last week-end. Mr John Smart has returned from his Tasmania trir> and looks quite ten years younger. Mr Wilson Hull left on Monday for a short trip to the North Island. Miss E. M. Waldren, a \ former school teacher of Alexandra lias been staying in Alexandra as the guest of Mrs Cowie. Mr and Mrs W. W. Pullman, of Galloway, left yesterday for Roma, Queensland. Mr Pullman has been in indifferent health for 'some time past due to war disabilities and is taking the trip for health purposes. During I his absence Mr A. W. Pullman, of ■ I Whangarei, will manage the farm at' Galloway. Among the recent engagements is that of Miss Belle M'Arthur to Mr Jeff Taylor. Our Eanfurly correspondent advises us that Mr P. that town, has been confined to Ms bed for a S%G days. Mr and Mrs Purton, of Lauder, were tendered a send-off by residents last Wednesday night. Mr Clouston, sen., on behalf of the residents, presented Mr Purton with a sum of money as a token of the high esteem in which he was held. 'The Lauder hockey girls presented Mrs Purton with a beautiful tray suitably inscribed and Miss Gretta Purton with a signet ring. The presentations were made by Miss Clouston. Mr G. Alexander presented Mr Joe Walles with a pipe on behalf of the residents. The speaker wished Joe every success and hoped that he would marry at an early age. The recipients suitably replied. After the presentations dancing and supper were indulged in and a very pleasant evening was spent by a representative gathering of residents.
