APPLE EXPORT.
The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram» dated 17th inst, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: — Apples, ex Hororata. A further examination revealed over ripeness in case of some sorts, especially Delicious, and Under maturity in case of Cox's Orange.—Present quotations are: — Cox's Orange, 20s to 30s per case ; Jonathan, 13s to 16s per case ; London Pippin, 10s to lis per case ; Cleopatra, 14s to 18s per case ; Statesman, 15s per case ; Dunn's Favourite, 14s to 16s per case ; Stunner, 14s to 16s per case ; Delicious, 14s to 15s per case ; Newton Pippin, 14s to 15s per case. Australian apples still selling at fairly good prices, and business not brisk. The Otaki has been despatched with the final shipment of Otago apples, comprising 15,078 cases, of which 2,283 cases are for Montevideo and 12,795 cases for Loudon This makes a grand total for the season of 40,112 cases of apples and pears for Montevideo and Londoii, and some 1,500 cases for Honolulu. An interesting experiment is being made in the shipment of forty-five cases of quinces to London, and Messrs G. M. Marshall and R. Kinnaird, of Earnscleugh, to be complimented on their enterprise in trying this fruit out under shipping conditions.
