RUPTURE.
Among tho habits of excessive toil to which the human family is subj"Ct, that which the faim labourer has annualy to face, viz., the tossing of sheaves to greit heights iu tho loading of waggons, etc , is perhaps the one which causes more cases of serious rupture than any other mode of employment. Though we mention this as a prominent cause of rupture, it must not be overlooked that all violent muscular efforts to procure the necessaries, comforts and conveniences of life, together with the hereditary weakness under which our race labours, thruugh a long line ot ancestral transgressions, have developed a physical imperfection, both distressing and dangerous, S'-yled hernia or rupture. In a ritce physically strong we do believe, it cmlj not exist "Nor do we believe, even in the present type of feeble end depleted manhood and womanhood, it could exist it a proper system of physical training wore carried out through childhood till the body was well knit or consolidated, so as to exclude all idea of weakness or want r.f strength. Such habits which sound physiological instruction to our sous and daughters would produce, can alone banish this physical curse from our race, and substitute a better, pu~er and higher standard ot physical perfection. We really think that sufferers from hernia living in the country should givo this matter their earnest attention, and even though it may occasion their taking a day or two off for the purpose, it would be well worth their while to do so for the sake of getting scientific treatment. Hundreds of persons of both sexes who have adopted this policy have loft testimonials expressing their gratification at the result. Mr A. W. Martin, Sole Controller of the Dr J. A./Sherman method of treating rupture may be consulted at his rooms in Sutuson's Buildings, Dowliug Street, Dunedin. Consultations ure free. Booklet on rupture and its treatment posted free'to any sufferer.—idvt.
