Mr I'. Biuoks, clerk of the court, Cromwell, has heeu tiansterred to Lawrence. He is succeeded by MiNeville Wilis.
Mr J. H. Thorp, orchard instructor, who was married recently, was wUh Mrs Thorp, entertained at a complimentary social by the fruitgrowers of the Teviot district, last Monday evening. Mr Thorp by his unfailing courtesy and his readiness at all times to assist growers, has made himself a most popular otlieei and by way of tendering him their congratulations on his mat stage and welcoming to the district his wife, the Teviot Association arranged a social gathering. The evening which took the form of progressive euchre and music, was very enjoyable and oyer 100 persons were presjut. At the supper interval the secretary of the Associatim in the unavoidable absence of the President (Mr Bennetts), conveyed to Mr and Mis Thorp the congratulations of all J present on their marriage, ami wished ; them a long and happy wedded life. Mr Thorp briefly replied, thanking the people for their kindness in entertaining them and for" their kind welcome to Mrs Thorp.
