SPORTING.
The question of loialisator permits and the present unsatisfactory distribution as between racing ami trot ing clubs was recently uj> before the House. Mr Glover raised iW matter with the following question :—•• In considering the i*suc of tot'alisator permits, will the .Minister of Internal Affairs take into account the claims of trotting clubs? -("Hear, hear.') Mr Glover added that in asking the question he <va> thinking particularly of the Cambridge Club. At Mr Young's suggestion, he added the name "f the Te Awramutu Club, and as far as this district is concerned he might well have added the Central-Olago Trotting Club. The Hon. Mr Mine said he was sorry that he could not givel effect to the request, since all the permits for the year were already allocated. Mr Isitt asked whether, in making the allocation nest year, the department would consider taking .some of the permit* away from the cities, wliere there was already plenty of racing, and giving them to the country clubs—("Hear. hear," from country members.) The Minister sail it had already been intimated to the president of the Racing Conference that before the issue of nexl years' permits there would be a review of the position -with a view to the rediitribution o£ the permits.
