A V.C.'S QUARREL
CU.VRGF; OF MUKDEN FOLLOWS STKEET FIGHT Philip Konowal, a. V.CV. lias Lcsn arrested for the alleged murder of William Article, at Hull, Quebec. The men bad a quarrel, which ended in a fight, in the course of which, it is stated, Article attempted to stab Konowal with a knife. Konowal, who led a pcaoe parade in OtUiwn, is of Russian birth, and is 29 years of age. Ho joined an Ottawa battallion early in the war, and 'served 12 months ini France, beinu; awarded: the V.C. in November, 1917. The oflioial d«scripi lion of 'his valor, when in charge cf a 1 section in attack, stated that he killed at i least 16 of the enemy in two days, tackI ling tnem in cellars, craters, and riiachine- ■ gun emplacements. . According to men who served | with Konowal. ho made a record in killing 52 Germans in four days with rifle lire .'and bayonet.
