£IOO,OOO POLICEMAN.
Sergeant Hure, whose beat is close to the Place dc I'Opera, Paris, bus recently inherited from an aunt an entirely unexpected fortuue amounting to more than .£IOO,OO says the ' Daily Mail.' The wesiltby policeman has not yet been able to leave the force, as the Paris poliee was militarised for the wai, and he is not yet demobilised. So, though he still stands at the corner of the line du Quatre Septembre looking no more like a man of large means than any other Paris policeman, M. Hure baa used the first instalments of his fortune to found a popular restaurant where working men and humble employees of his district can . get a good dinuer and supper for about Is 6d. '■:
