LAND BOARD ELECTION. The date of for the vacancy on the Otago Land Board has been fixed for December 4th, and in view of the fact that one of the candidates for tlte position hails from Central OtagO it behoves ev.ery Crown tenant in the interior t,o record their votes in favor of one whom it can be depended upon to\ champion their interests on such an important council as the Otago Land Board. Hitherto the Crown tenants of Central Otago have not received that consideration to which they are justly entitled, and there can be ho doubt that it will benefit tenants in these parts to have a member on the Board pledged to taok, after their interests. ; It is also onlyproper i that such a five should % chosen fjom the ranks of the tenants themselves. Mr ■ Rpbert Logan, who is one of the i candidates for the position, can saiely claim, to having a thorough knowledge ot the requirements of hisfellow tenants, for his experiences as a Crown tenant in Central Otago' extends over a quarter of a century; iot good and bad seasons. It is the small farmer who, will realise the! many advantages to be derived from j having a direct representative on the Board, and we have little hesitation in affirming that Mr Logan would prove a useful member of a body which administrates the affairs of Crown tenants. In the. past small farmers throughout Central Otago have been subjected to a good deal of, inconvenience in not being able to have their wants transacted as expeditiously and thoroughly as possible. In the near 1 ; future, when closer settlement has become a more pronounced factor in Central OtagOj we throw out the suggestion that the increased amount of business to be transacted will warrant the formation of a Land Board whose duties will be to permit the hundreds of tenants' to air their grievances through that channel. Howevef, that may come, or it may not; and in the meantime it becomes the duty of every Crown tenant in Central Otago to record his vote in favor of one who has the interest of Central Otago at heart. And to them we commend Mr Logan. ; ',■".' ' V..:"' • (, ; -' ''■■■
