Alexandra Fire Brigade.
Our local Fire Brigade is now looked upon as an institution worthy of more than passing notice, and on Tuesday evenings the members may be seen putting in some useful practice. It is satisfactory to cote the rapid etiides that the Brigade is making towards a high state of efficiency, and consider«b!e credit is due to Oapt. O'Kaue and the Brigade's instructor for the pains taken by them to train the men in the work. Alexandra people ean now flatter themselves that they haye a brigade whg understand tjhe|r work and who may be ctepeuuou .. r „_ „j give a good account of themselves in the case of an outbreak of fire. The Brigade is now-well equipped, having a first-class reel with a good supply of hose and gear; but we would like to see the Brigade provided with uniforms to complete their equipment. To provide the nucleus of a UniformFund the Clyde Dramatic Olub, which is favorably known in Alexandra for * '-. their fine productions, has offered to produce the well-known comedy, g such a .Fool as he Looks," in the hall on Friday, August 19th. The%fto piece has been in rehearsal for time, and promises to be the Club's best effort. The Club will play the comedy at* Clyde, Matakanui, and Cromwell before coming to Alexandra, and consequently will be in the best form for the Alexandra performance. Knowing the capabilities of the Clyde Dramatic Club, and the fact.:that the" cause will appeal to everyone, we have • no hesitation in prophesying a record house on Friday, August 19th,
