A meeting of the New Garibaldi Company was held last night, when it was decided to liquidate. Joseph Karetai, aged 12, was admitted to the hospital this, morning, suffering from a wound from a pea rifle. He was examining the rifle when his brother came along and pulled the trigger in fun, when the rifle went off. The bullet has not yet been located.
'A strong feeling is being worked up against the San Francisco mail service, and it is believed there will be a majority against renewing the contract.
The Duke of Devonshire has resigned his portfolio in Mr Balfour's Ministry. Mr Balfour has re-constructed his Cabinet. Mr Alfred Lyttelton succeeds Mr Chamberlain as Secretary of State for the Colonies. Mr Austen Chamberlain has been promoted to Chancellor of the Exchequer. The rearranged Cabinet has met with much adverse criticism.
The inward 'Frisco mail reaches Dunedin to-night.
