A SUGGESTION.
TO THE EDITOR.,' Sir,—Our town can boast of the best band on the goldfields, and the citizens recently recognised, in a tangible manner, their appreciation of the bandmaster's valuable services. I nowwish to suggest a practical way by which to provide a necessary convenience for the bandsmen. No doubt the band are well schooled, well drilled, and well. dressed in uniform. They freely and willingly turn out at all public functions. Now they are playing for a concert; then you see them leading the volunteers to. church narade; next they are discoursing lively music in the street; whilst about once a month they discourse sacred music in the recreation reserve a treat which local residents freely avail themselves of on a Sunday afternoon. So far, indeed, the Band have been only too willing to lend their assistance in all deserving cases, and the public have assisted the band by their patronage. Now, I would suggest, the band should get up a concert, or series o5 concerts, the proceeds to be devoted to the building of a band rotunda in the recreation ground, I feel sure the Reserves Conservation Society would assist in so deserving a project. Thanking you for the space allotted me.—l am, to,, A Lover op the Baku.
