Alexandra School.

The ordinary meeting of the Alexandra School Committee was held on Friday evening last, when there were present—Messrs Laidlaw, Schaumann, M'Knight, Campbell, and Buchanan. Mr Laidlaw was voted to the chair; Four applications were received for the work of cleaning the school, and after consideration the application of Mrs Holden was accepted. Messrs Campbell and Buchanan were elected as a works committee and were empowered to have some necessary repairs to the schoolmaster's residence carried out. lb was resolved that the school be closed from June 26 th to July 6th for the usual midwinter holidays. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the performers at the recent sacred concert. Accounts amounting to £l9 8s Id were passed for payment. A. vote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting.
