Land Board.
The following business of local interest was transacted at last week's meeting of the Otago Waste Lands Board :
Ranger O'Neill reported on the application by John Donaldson to surrender his pastoral license over Runs Nos. 479 and 480, near Roxburgh.— Surrender to be" accepted in the event of arrears being paid. John White applied for an area of 400 acres adjoining section 3, block 11, Lauder district, on Matakanui Run.— As the land was at present held under pastoral lease the board had to decline the application, James Percy applied to be allowed to acquire an area of 100 acres on lease in perpetuity on Matakanui Run, Lauder District.—The application was declined as the land applied for was held under pastoral lease. Arthur Hiscock applied for exemption from residence on sections 61 and 64, block x, Leaning Rock district.— Granted.
A. A. Oliver wrote asking that when section 121, block 11, Leaning Rock district, was opened for application the usual quantity of land might be reserved on both sides of the Waipuna Creek.—Held over.
Applications for occupation leases under "The Mining District Land Occupation Act, 1894": Margaret Young, 50 acres, block in, Fraser district, Blackmail's Gully; A W Wing, 50 acres, block in, Fraser district, Blackman's Gully.—Sketches of land applied for to be supplied. J. J. Ramsay, on behalf of J. M. Love, applied for an area of 200 acres on Moutere Run, adjoining his present holding.—Left in the hands of the chief surveyor. It was decided that the following sections in the Leaning Rock district be opened for selection, grouped as under, at a capital value of 5s per acre : —Sections 91- and"9j§!, block i, and sections 4 and 5, block vni, to form one group; sections 122, 123 and 124, block ii, and section 10, block vi, to form another group.
