Mechanics* Institute —We refer to the haT-yearly report, in another column, for important information with regard to the present state and prospects of the Institute. The detailed report shall be given in our next. The Natives.—During the last fortnight, the natives have brought io Auckland an abundant supply of pigs, fish, fowls, potatoes, melons, peaches, pumpkins, and various other produce. Their war canoes are now, happily, devoted to the peaceful arts cf commerce.
Cricket.— Two elevens of the "Albion" club, playedtheir closing match for the season, on Saturday last. After the play, the members- partook of a 'dejeuner,' provided by mine host of the Royal Hotel. Mrs. Whitaker, and several other ladies were present. The Kent Cujß.-.r-We learn that " the men of Kent," will p'ay a friendly game on Monday next. Wickets' to le pitched at twelve o'clock. :.
