6 September 1853 Governor's house To McLean Friend, Greetings to you and your learned council. Friend, listen, we have spoken to the Governor about our discussion here. And the Governor said to us that we should write to you. So here it is. This is what we said to the Governor, that we do not agree that the Wairarapa people should give us the things, rather that you should do that.
