When you both arrive here I will talk to you about the payments for Akitio, about your giving me £200, 25 [shillings?], which you could give me when you come here. Don't reject my suggestion, for this is the reason, that I've not touched any of the payments for that land of mine. And this is why I say to you that since I have not taken the payments for my land, then soon I should receive those payments for that land of mine. Friends, McLean and Governor, listen to what I have to say. This is for you to hear, that the people have agreed by discussion to give the land to you. [The boundary is] from Te Mimiorau[?], where it goes out to Ngaruroro, climbs right up on to Te Kaweka, and from Hawea goes out to Putauaki and then on to Te Matau-a-Maui. All the land is to be taken. So my word to you two is this, I say to you two to give me some payment for Akitio. If you have no money for when you come here, then collect it from the Pakeha, and let it be the same amount as I state here to give me. Friends, don't refuse my suggestion but agree to it, for I did not touch the first payments for Akitio and for this land. I have never seen that amount of money for me, of £75. You should come soon with this amount, I never touched it. And there is no reason for any misdoing to be held over Rata and me. So you should heed this when you come to this settlement.
