Raglan, 24th. April 1860. Friend Mr. McLean, Salutations; I have received your word that I should be kind to our pakeha friends. Friend, my love and kindness is great. But those that are evil-disposed should go away. For there are some pakehas here who speak very loudly (bad) and curse the Maoris. I am therefore of opinion that these should be sent back; so there should be no darkness, and that all may be clear. I am still advising the Europeans. Some listens to me; but there are some that does not. But they are the common (tutua's) pakehas. This is another word. I am still doing the work that you and the Governor gave me to do, -- that is the work connected with the good laws, which I am doing every day. This is also another word. Do not think that the men of this place will go to Taranaki (to join W. King.) Do you hearken! They do not like that bad work -- murdering. But there are some going to convey the words of God to them. Revd. Mr. Whitely send word that some persons should go.
