Raglan, 24th. April 1860. Friend Mr. McLean, Salutations; I have received your word that I should be kind to our pakeha friends. Friend, my love and kindness is great. But those that are evil-disposed should go away. For there are some pakehas here who speak very loudly (bad) and curse the Maoris. I am therefore of opinion that these should be sent back; so there should be no darkness, and that all may be clear. I am still advising the Europeans.
