ELECTION FOR CHRISTCHURCH.
— '■ — ♦ — The election of a member to serve in the Provincial Council for the city of Christchurch, in the room of Mr F. J. Garrick, resigned, took place at the Town Hall, at noon to-day. Dr Donald, Returning Officer, opened the proceedings in the usual manner. Mr W. Wilson proposed, and Mr Wynh Williams seconded, the nomination of Mr J. Inglis. Mr Hawkes explained that Mr Lane had withdrawn in favour of Mr Inglis. No other candidate being proposed, the Returning Officer declared Mr Inglis duly elected. On the motion of Mr Inglis, seconded by Mr W. Wilson, a rote of thanks was passed to the Returning Officer, and the proceedings terminated.
