Mr and Mrs W. H. Price left Whangarei to-day for Auckland, where they intend to reside for the present. Mr David White, of Maunu road, Whangarei, has received word that his third son, Lieutenant K. R. White, ta reported missing. "Ken" White was well-known and popular in this district He was born in Auckland 28 years dgO and spent his early days in that city. Later he completed his education in the North under Mr A.. M. Rust, and was appointed pupil teacher at Hikurangi. Thence he went to the position of sole master at Purua, and after various changes found himself in charge of the school at Awanui. It was from this latter place that he enlisted. He was made a non-com. in the 19th Reinforcements and sailed for the front with the rank of second-lieutenant. He has been spoken of by his comrades as a cool, intrepid officer, and if ne has been taken the chances are that he has refused to leave his post until too late. Mr David White has three other sons away and a son-in-law is going into camp—each one a volunteeer. Whangarei friends hope that good news will be heard of "Ken" before long.
