The Lyttelton Times.
Saturday, March 10, 1855. ; By the Mountain-Maid we have Wellington papers to the 28th ult., but they contain no; later intelligence from England than we have already published. Our neighbours of Wellington, although disturbed by occasional tremors, are now resuming their 'accustomed pursuits. We have no intelligence from either of the other Provinces.
Otje correspondent's account ofthe elections has not reached us, but |we have received the following information from another source. Both Mr. Hall's re-election for the Christchurch Country District, and Mr. Fook's election for the Town of Christchurch in the place of Mr. Cass, who resigned his seat a short time since, were unopposed. The candidates for the three extra seats conferred by the Provincial Council Extension Ordinance on the town of Christchurch (Captain Westenra, and Messrs. Barker, and J. Brittan,) were also unopposed. For the Christchurch Country District, a poll has been demanded by Mr. Inwood, the sliow of hands having been declared to be in favour of Messrs. Bealey, Ollivier, Thomson, and Bray. Messrs. Hichens and Martin have resigned. The polling takes place this day at the following places : — at the Police Office, Lyttelton ; Council Chamber, Christchurch ; and at Mr. Black's store, Kaiapoi. The nomination for the town of Lyttelton will take place on Tuesday next, at 12 o'clock, in the Police Office, Lyttelton ; and for the District of Akaroa on the 16th inst.
