WOMEN TAKE PART

An instance believed to be unique in New Zealand politics marked the opening meeting of Mr. George Wildish, a former Mayor of Gisbome, who is contesting the Grey Lynn seat in the Government interests. The chair was taken by a woman, Dr. E. B. Turkington, a prominent social worker, and the candidate was followed by his wife, in an unexpected fighting address.
