OPPOSING MR. ATMORE

COALITION CANDIDATE (By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") NELSON, 4th November. A deputation of about thirty town and country electors waited upon Mr. Herbert Everett, of Wakeileld, to ask him to allow himself to be nominated as the Coalition candidate for the Nelson seat at the General Election. Among numerous speakers were supporters of both the Beform and the United parties. Mr. Everett stated that he was strongly of opinion that1 every effort should be made to ensure that Nelson should be represented in Parliament by a member who was prepared to pledge himself to support the Coalition Government, as it was most important that the same feeling of safety and security which had resulted from the British elections should be brought about in New Zealand. ■ He felt very much inclined to accede to the request, but he considered that a meeting of Government supporters should be held so that the selection of the best possible candidate might be referred to a larger number. A meeting as suggested will be held to-morrow. is chosen to contest the seat against Mr. H. Atmore he will be officially recognised as the Government candidate.
