Ilauan, Minister of Education in the Na-j tional Cabinet, being run hard by Mr. Warrant, a printer: by trade, and a supporter of Mr. Holland for the Invorcargill seat. The chances are, however, that the representation wili be unchanged. Hr.' Armstead, the Reform candidate, will assuredly be at the bottom of the poll.
Mr. J. R. Hamilton will also retain 'Awarua, which he wrested three years ago from Sir Joseph Ward. His chief opppnent, Mr. Perxelle, the proprietor of .the- Wintbn "Record," and a member of -the Southland Education Board, opened ihis campaign well, but latterly he has been drawn rather badly at question ifcime, and has-become personal in his atjtacks on bis opponent. This has cost him jnany supporters. Mr. Norman M'lntyre, |who styles . himeelf as "co-operative" icarfdidate, will probably forfeit his doiposit. ' A change',-is .likely to be effected' in (Wallace, whore Mr. J. C. Thomson, the ex-Liberal member, looks likely to oust Mr. Adam Hamilton. The difference between this pair at last election was only
