SOUTHERN DIVISION— STATE OF THE POLL. Majority for Graham. Haultain.
The accounts from Kawhia, Whaingaroa, and Rangiawhia, have not yet come in. Mr. Graham's Committee reckon confidently upon majorities in all those places. n
PnorESson Risley. — This extraordinary artiste, with his talented company, completely took the house by storm, yesterday evening, at the Theatre Royal. The acrobatic feats were truly wonderful; M. Devani's performances alone being worth the money paid for the whole entertainment. Mr. Kisley's reputation is too well established to need support from our journal. Some ten years since the writer of this remembers to have seen him with his two sons at Drury Lane Theatre, on which occasion the Queen was present. Since then we believe he has travelled over, as he says, three quarters of the civilized world, and has always met with a generous reception. We have only space to say that the musical portion of the entertainment was most successful ; and that "Master Charles" showed himself ta bD a true "Chip of the old block" — his songs and •'Stump Speech" manifesting extraordinary precocity. We shall take an early opportunity of giving a detailed notice of these interesting performances. — — — r\
