The ship Merchantman, 1018 tons register, 6. T. Brawn, Esq., Commander, nrrired on the 4th instant from Plymouth. She was in sight the whole of the day, but, ha"ing very light winds, and having the tide to contend with during the afternoon, she did not come to an anchor till an advanced hour in the night. She brings his Excellency Col. Thos. Gore Browne, our new Governor, MTs.Browne, Missßrowne.Capt.Steward.priTate secretary to hisExcellency, together with 22chief and 116 second cabin and steerage passengers, 20 of which «re for Canterbury. She received his Excellency and suite nt Plymouth, and sailed thence on the afternoon of the 28th May. She crossed the equator on the 27th June, and sighted land on the Ist instant, —the Three Kings on the one "beam and the North Cape on the other. From that time till her arrival she had light southerly -wind*, and the voyage throughout has been attended with remarkably fine weather. She is a powerful ship, and tails well in a stiff breeze. She ha* logged in the Toyage 360 mile*, and, but for the very line weather she has experienced, would have made a much more rapid passage, Ai it is, she has accomplished the voyage in 98 days. Captain Brown in very highly spoken of by |he passengers, and an Adress to him, in very flattering terms, and which- accompanied a more substantial Testimonial, will be found in another column. The Domld Meltiy, one of the longest and most powerful ships of that eminent builder was to be the bearer of the June Mail. That for July was to be conveyed by the Cha npion of the Seas. The James Baines had arrived in the Mersey from Melbourne; after a splendid passage of 69 days. The brig Heather Bell, Jonds, henCe the Ist ultimo, arrived at Sydney on the 17th, and the brig Yarrow, "Williams. w"hich .sailed on the sune day, arrived on the 18th. The Heather Bell was again on the berth for this port. 1 The batque Qalatea, Capt. Hill, sailed from Sydney fvwy^uckland-Cvia- > J9wcanle) on the 17th ult. Tiie brig Kestrel, Captain Wallace, was on the berth for this port, and would sail shortly after the Marmora.
