MR A. W. RUTHERFORD.
Mr a. tv\ Rutherford (Hurunui) was born in New South Wales, of Scotch parents, hi 1542, and arrived in the colony oa January Ist, 1860, in the barque Gundreda. He was accompanied by his father, the late Mr George Rutherford, and his brother, Mr William Ruterford. Immediately on arrival he proceeded to Leslie Hills, which, and been purchased by his father in the previous year. He was shepherd there till July 1862, when he took charge of Mendip Hills on behalf of his father ana the Hon. A. Domett. He was a member i.s£ the Nelson Provincial Council, and is now ?. member of vhe Licensing Committee, and chairman of the Cheviot County Council.
