War Wit was a humorous monthly magazine published by Stewart Lawrence and Co Ltd of Wellington and distributed throughout New Zealand by Messrs Gordon and Gotch Ltd between 1941 and 1945 during World War II.

Noted as a ‘tonic for the jitters’ War Wit predominantly contained cartoons and jokes designed to boost morale, with slogans such as ‘chins up’ and ‘in times like these you need smiles.’

With the end of the War in 1945, War Wit was incorporated into Fun Fare.
