WHAT’S IN A WAR?
Whatever reasons influenced our enlisting, every man of us was fully conscious that he had a tough job to do. We are proud to be volunteers in the King’s Army, and for the King’s cause.
There are a couple of fellows in Europe who do a lot of talking. Sometimes they and their bumboys open their mouths too wide. They said the British Empire was decadent.
They are pretty good at calling other people names are we. The difference; however ■■ is just this, we can laugh; they- haven’t given the world a single laugh. We all like to have a crack at other people’s expense, but God help us the day we can’t raise a laugh at ourselves. '
Heart is the most important thing in a man’s make-up. A big heart will carry all before it. Quiet determination and courage, will carry country lads though we may be— a certain victory. It seems that there are two alternatives before us—a German world or a British world. We're damn sure the world won't be German. Unhampered by foreign conquest and comparatively free from civil strife, the British people worked out a system of
living and accumulated sufficient wealth to carry the system. It is our system. We must keep it, and if anybody wants to interfere— force us to change our system and ways of life or to steal our wealth -we’ll fight them. we believe, we’ll win. Have heart and be of good cheer.
