TO THE MEMORY OF CERTAIN BRAVE MEN.
By
Slowly and slowly the onward rolling comber Rears ’till it dash in a sheet of spouting foam; On, bear them onward, a death of deathless glory Their unchallenged passport to England’s ports and home.
Not theirs the guilt that loosed the tempest on them
Theirs but to serve while death lurked above, below : -
Theirs to keep faith, the honour of their calling — ... .. - ... To bear food to a nation,, ebb or flow. Some lie in state in the heart of grey Atlantic ; Some in the sight of the shore they called their own. Weep not their end, for each wave that breaks above -.them - ‘ Drops its glistening tears by the ceaseless .breezes strown. '
