HIS EXCELLENCY'S MESSAGE

The following message to the troops was received, by our Ship's C 0 from his Excellency the Governor-General: 1: On the eve of their departure from the homeland of the Third Echelon of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, I should like to convey to you, as Commanding Officer, and to the Officers and Men under your control, my warmest congratulations on your prompt response to the Nation’s call 9 Many of you have made great sacrifices in order that you might take up arms in defence of all that you hold most dear, and your present state of efficiency is proof to the world of your- unwavering loyalty to the Crown and of your determination to maintain the high traditions of Now Zealand's soldiers of the past » Tour country is indeed proud of you, and I would like to take this opportunity of wishing you a good passage and. a safe arrival at your destination e "
